Sridar Paramalingam is a licensed attorney in Switzerland and registered with the Bar Registry of the Canton of Berne. Before founding Nordwand Law GmbH, he gained extensive experience in various areas of law. His career has been shaped by his work in renowned Swiss law firms, each of which has contributed significantly to his expertise and understanding of Swiss and international law in various fields.
Professional background: Sridar began his legal career at Peter & Kim, a highly regarded international commercial arbitration boutique. As a law clerk and junior associate to Prof. Christoph Brunner, he gained valuable knowledge in international commercial arbitration and specialized in international sales law, construction contract law and energy. By working with Prof. Brunner, Sridar gained a deep understanding of cases in which force majeure, hardship, or sanctions play a legal role. This experience laid a solid foundation in Swiss contract law and international arbitration.
White Collar Crime & Investigations: While working in the white collar crime & investigations practice group of Swiss law firm Kellerhals Carrard, Sridar has worked extensively on financial crime investigations and Swiss criminal law and procedure, gaining valuable insight into complex corporate criminal cases.
Sports law and arbitration: The move to the internationally renowned law firm Lafranchi Meyer proved to be decisive for Sridar’s career. Working closely with Mr. Patrick Lafranchi, a respected and sought-after arbitrator at the International Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS), he dealt with sports arbitration proceedings on a daily basis. Under Mr. Lafranchi, Sridar has been involved in numerous high-profile CAS arbitrations between national and international governing bodies, federations, anti-doping agencies and renowned athletes, players and clubs.
Education: Sridar completed the Global Master in International Sports Law at the Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economia (ISDE) in Madrid in 2024-2025. Before becoming a lawyer, he completed his Bachelor (magna cum laude) and Master of Law (summa cum laude) at the University of Bern. He received the award for the best Master’s thesis of his year with the title:“The Super Expedited Procedure – A Concept for Extra-Fast Commercial Arbitration Procedures inspired by Sports Arbitration”.
In addition to law, Sridar is not only a lawyer, but also a professional paraglider tandem pilot and multiple Ironman 70.3 finisher. These activities give him a unique perspective, as he knows first-hand what hard training means and what is at stake when your body is your asset.
